We hope you had a great summer! We are all excited to begin another season of singing starting on Tuesday Sept. 12, 2017 through to April 3rd, 2018 with our final concert on Saturday, April 7th.

For newer members, our Music Director is A. Dale Wood and our Assistant director is Katia Sheepwash. Your choir manager this year will be myself, Mariam Sheepwash. I am looking forward to meeting you all and working with your children as I assist Dale and Katia with all the logistics, along with a wonderful team of parents, who have stepped up to help out!

We meet on Tuesdays at the Christian Reformed Church, which is beside the Christian School on Trafalgar Rd. We are not affiliated with a religious organization, but we have found the perfect place for our kids to practice and for our parents to wait for their kids. Times for each age group are on the application form. All kids ages 5 to 20 are welcome to join us in one of the 4 choir divisions (see attached sign up form for details).

Members age 9 to 20 can also apply to be in a second choir, called Performance choir. Membership in the Performance choir requires an audition and is based on voice quality, attendance and behaviour. For more information and/or to book an audition, talk to us when registering on the first night of Choir.

Please see the registration form attached, fill it out online or print it off and bring it along with payment on Sept. 12. Choir costs $150 a year plus $10 for a T-shirt. Cheques are made payable to: Georgetown Children’s Chorus, or you can pay in cash. Once you have paid your membership, you will be given a folder with all the music (words for the little ones), used this season.

All of our performances will be held at the Christian Reform Church where we practice. We perform 3 major concerts for Intermediate, Performance and Senior Choirs, and 2 for our Juniors and Cherubs.

Our first Concert will be on Sunday, November 5th, at a Remembrance Service, which we have participated in for the last 18 years! It will be at the Christian Reformed Church (where we practice). Only the Intermediate, Performance and Senior Choirs will be singing at this concert. Lois Fraser (co-founder and previous manager), will be the director of this concert and will present highlights from the trip to France for the Canada 150 celebrations, which many of our members and parents took in July. The GCC made us proud as they performed at many of the memorial sites during the celebrations!

Our Christmas concert will be on Saturday Dec. 9th, (two shows, 1 and 4pm). Please keep your schedule open for the whole day, as it is not possible to fit our audience into one performance.

At our Christmas concert, the Juniors and Intermediate will be performing a musical called “Dude, You Hear What I Hear?” All members sing from memory and you will be given a practice CD, to play over and over again in your car until you and your entire family can’t stand it anymore!

The Cherubs (kids age 5 and 6), sing simpler songs with some simple choreography. Senior choir members sing some more challenging pieces with 5 part harmonies, a few solos and some simple choreography thrown in for fun!   All this makes for a fun-filled performance for our members and a great show for our audience!

If you are super organized, please note that our Spring concert is on Saturday, April 7th (two shows, 1 and 4pm), following our last practice of the season on Tuesday, April 3rd.
